Pmma Pc Scaffolds

PMMA-PC scaffolds are three-dimensional porous structures made from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and polycarbonate (PC), materials used to study how engineered environments support biological growth. Their interconnected pores provide space for cell attachment and migration while allowing nutrients, oxygen, and metabolic products to move through the scaffold. By adjusting polymer composition, pore architecture, and surface properties, researchers can examine how scaffold structure influences cell behavior and tissue formation. In biology and tissue engineering, PMMA-PC scaffolds support investigations of cell-material interactions, biomaterial performance, and strategies for developing artificial tissue environments.

2017

Solvent bonding is a simple and versatile method for fabricating thermoplastic microfluidic devices with high quality bonds. We describe a protocol to achieve strong, optically clear bonds in PMMA and COP microfluidic devices that preserve microfeature details, by a judicious combination of pressure, temperature, an appropriate solvent, and device geometry.

Interview: Bioreactors and Surfaced-Modified 3D-Scaffolds for Stem Cell Research

2008

In the past many in vitro culture systems -- mainly monolayer cultures -- often suffered from the disadvantage that differentiated primary cells had a relatively short life-span and de-differentiated during culture. As a consequence, most of their organ-specific functions were lost rapidly. Thus, in order to reproduce better conditions for these cells in vitro, modifications and adaptations have been made to conventional monolayer cultures.

Here, we present a protocol to fabricate electrospun nanofiber scaffolds with gradated organization of fibers and explore their applications in regulating cell morphology/orientation. Gradients with regard to physical and chemical properties of the nanofiber scaffolds offer a wide variety of applications in the biomedical field.
