Point Of Care Devices

Point-of-care devices are diagnostic tools that analyze biological samples near the patient rather than in a centralized laboratory, enabling timely clinical decisions. They detect specific biomarkers through methods such as lateral-flow assays, biosensors, or microfluidic processing, often integrating sample preparation, molecular recognition, signal generation, and portable readouts. In biology and medicine, these devices support rapid testing for infectious diseases, monitor physiological conditions, and help guide treatment where laboratory infrastructure is limited. Their portability, short turnaround times, and potential for low-volume testing make them valuable for decentralized healthcare, field research, and personalized monitoring.

We describe a model of hydrochloric acid-induced acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in piglets receiving sedation with halogenated agents, isoflurane and sevoflurane, through a device used for inhaled intensive care sedation. This model can be used to investigate the biological mechanisms of halogenated agents on lung injury and repair.

An interdisciplinary team includes many healthcare professionals working together and utilizing their skills, knowledge, and expertise to provide holistic and quality patient care. Physicians The physician's primary responsibility is to diagnose illness and direct the medical or surgical treatment of the condition. The authority to admit patients to a healthcare agency or institution and practice care within that setting is granted to physicians by the healthcare agency or institution itself.
