Recovery Protocol

A recovery protocol is a structured set of biological procedures that helps cells, tissues, or organisms regain normal function after stress, injury, manipulation, or experimental treatment. It works by controlling post-treatment conditions, such as temperature, nutrient availability, hydration, handling, and observation, so biological systems can restore homeostasis while damage and viability are assessed. In laboratory biology, recovery protocols support cell culture, transformation, tissue handling, and other workflows in which survival or functional restoration affects experimental results. Standardized recovery improves reproducibility, reduces avoidable loss, and helps researchers distinguish temporary stress responses from lasting biological effects.

This protocol describes the procedure for non-invasive recovery assessments during a 72 h recovery period. This protocol induces muscular exhaustion of the frontal thighs using countermovement jumps and uses either local cold-cuff or thermoneutral-cuff application as a recovery modality.

Reverse Genetics Mediated Recovery of Infectious Murine Norovirus

Noroviruses are a major cause of gastroenteritis yet molecular techniques for their characterisation are still relatively new. Here we report two different reverse genetics approaches for the efficient recovery of murine norovirus (MNV), the only member of this genus which can be propagated in cell culture.

In this article we will describe the procedure for measuring diffusion coefficients using multi-photon fluorescence recovery after photobleaching. We will begin by aligning the laser along the optical path to the sample and determining the proper experimental parameters, then continue generating and finally fitting fluorescence recovery curves.
