Rna Transport Analysis

RNA transport analysis is the study of how RNA molecules move between and within cells, a process that determines where genetic information is translated and how cell functions are coordinated. It examines steps such as nuclear export, delivery through the cytoplasm, and localization by RNA-binding proteins, motor proteins, and the cytoskeleton, often using molecular labeling, imaging, or biochemical fractionation. In biology, these analyses reveal how cells target transcripts to specific regions, regulate protein production, and respond to developmental or environmental cues. They also support research into neuronal function, embryonic development, infection, and diseases linked to disrupted RNA localization or transport.

RNA Analysis of Environmental Samples Using RT-PCR

Source: Laboratories of Dr. Ian Pepper and Dr. Charles Gerba - The University of Arizona Demonstrating Author: Bradley Schmitz Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) involves the same process as conventional PCR — cycling temperature to amplify nucleic acids. However, while conventional PCR only amplifies deoxyribonucleic acids (DNA), RT-PCR enables the amplification of ribonucleic acids (RNA) through the formation of complementary DNA (cDNA). This enables RNA-based organisms...

Regulated mRNA Transport

2020

In eukaryotes, transcription and translation are compartmentalized; an mRNA is first synthesized in the nucleus and then selectively transported to the cytoplasm for protein synthesis. Before transport, a pre-mRNA undergoes several steps of post-transcriptional modifications including splicing, 5' capping, and the addition of a poly-adenine tail. Various proteins bind to the pre-mRNA during these modifications. The mRNA transport takes place with the help of multiple proteins playing specific...

2014

We describe a technique for analysis of global RNA synthesis in hypoxia using imaging. Click-chemistry labeling of RNA has not previously been performed under hypoxia and allows visualization of global RNA changes at the single cell level. This approach complements the existing averaged RNA techniques, allowing direct visualization of cell-to-cell changes in global RNA synthesis.
