Uterine Veins Drainage

Uterine veins drainage is the venous pathway that returns blood from the uterus to the systemic circulation, an important feature of pelvic anatomy and reproductive biology. A network of veins within the uterine wall forms the uterine venous plexus, which collects deoxygenated blood and generally follows the uterine arteries before emptying into the internal iliac veins; connections with ovarian and vaginal veins provide additional routes. Understanding this drainage pattern helps explain pelvic venous circulation, uterine blood flow during pregnancy, and the spread of pelvic disease. It is also clinically relevant during gynecologic surgery, where nearby vessels require careful identification and control.

Acid Mine Drainage

2026

Mining activities that disturb sulfide-rich rocks, particularly those containing pyrite (FeS₂), initiate a cascade of geochemical and microbiological processes with serious environmental implications. When exposed to air and water, pyrite undergoes oxidation, releasing sulfate, ultimately forming sulfuric acid and mobilizing heavy metals into surrounding water systems. This phenomenon, known as acid mine drainage (AMD), results in low pH waters laden with toxic elements that threaten aquatic...

We present a method to collect cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and to create a system which lacks CSF within the embryonic zebrafish brain ventricular system. This allows for further examination of CSF composition and its requirement during embryonic brain development.

Uterine Tubes

2024

The uterine or fallopian tubes function as the conduit through which oocytes travel from the ovaries to the uterus. Each fallopian tube measures approximately 10 to 13 cm long and is anatomically divided into the infundibulum, ampulla, isthmus, and interstitial part (or intramural segment). The infundibulum is characterized by its funnel shape and features extensions called fimbriae which reach towards the peritoneal cavity. These fimbriae play a critical role during ovulation as they extend...

Nutrients present in particulate form can contribute significantly to the overall loads in agricultural drainage waters. This study describes a novel method to capture flow-weighted water and suspended particulates from farm canal drainage over the entire duration of the drainage event.
