Vestibule

Vestibule is an anatomical chamber or entryway that connects an external opening with a deeper passage or organ, and the term is used in several biological contexts. In the inner ear, the vestibule contains the utricle and saccule, whose sensory hair cells detect gravity and linear acceleration as otoliths shift within fluid-filled sacs and bend the cells’ stereocilia. This signaling contributes to balance, posture, and spatial orientation by informing the brain about head position and movement. Studying vestibular anatomy and function supports research on sensory integration, motion perception, dizziness, and disorders that impair equilibrium.

Source: Richard Glickman-Simon, MD, Assistant Professor, Department of Public Health and Community Medicine, Tufts University School of Medicine, MA This video provides an overview of sinus, nose, and throat examinations. The demonstration begins with a brief overview of the anatomy of the region. The upper third of the nose is bony, and the bottom two-thirds are cartilaginous. Air entering the nares passes through the nasal vestibules and into the narrow passageway between the nasal septum...

This manuscript reviews the modeling and simulations of different protocols to deliver medications to the olfactory region in image-based nasal airway models. Multiple software modules are used to develop the anatomically accurate nose model, generate computational mesh, simulate nasal airflows, and predict particle deposition at the olfactory region.

Intranasal Delivery of mRNA Polyplexes via Rayleigh Breakup Aerosols: An In Vitro Method for Nasal Deposition and Functional Testing

This protocol presents Rayleigh breakup as a mild process for aerosolizing non-viral mRNA vectors. Regional deposition for aerosolized mRNA vectors is evaluated by the Alberta Idealized Nasal Inlet (AINI) model. Green fluorescence protein (GFP) expression in human lung cells represents maintenance of physicochemical and biological functions of post-aerosolized mRNA vectors.
