Cd(nh3)2+ Complex

The Cd(NH3)2+ complex is a coordination ion in which a cadmium(II) center is bonded to two neutral ammonia ligands, illustrating how metal ions interact with electron-donating molecules. It forms when ammonia donates lone-pair electrons to Cd2+ through coordinate covalent bonds, while the equilibrium depends on ammonia concentration, solution acidity, and competing protonation of NH3. Studying this complex helps explain ligand coordination, stability constants, and metal-ligand equilibria in aqueous chemistry. It also provides a useful model for interpreting qualitative analysis, coordination geometry, and the behavior of cadmium compounds in solution.

CO2 transformations are conducted in a one-pot two-step procedure for the synthesis of complex molecules. The selective 4 e- reduction of CO2 with a hydroborane reductant affords a reactive and versatile bis(boryl)acetal intermediate which is subsequently involved in condensation reaction or carbene-mediated C-C coupling generation.

Formation of Complex Ions

2020

A type of Lewis acid-base chemistry involves the formation of a complex ion (or a coordination complex) comprising a central atom, typically a transition metal cation, surrounded by ions or molecules called ligands. These ligands can be neutral molecules like H2O or NH3, or ions such as CN− or OH−. Often, the ligands act as Lewis bases, donating a pair of electrons to the central atom. These types of Lewis acid-base reactions are examples of a broad subdiscipline called coordination...

The protocol describes experimental methods to obtain stable major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I through potential β2-microglobulin (β2m) substitutions from different species. The structural comparison of MHC I stabilized by homologous and heterologous β2m were investigated.

Crystal Field Theory - Octahedral Complexes

Crystal Field Theory To explain the observed behavior of transition metal complexes (such as colors), a model involving electrostatic interactions between the electrons from the ligands and the electrons in the unhybridized d orbitals of the central metal atom has been developed. This electrostatic model is crystal field theory (CFT). It helps to understand, interpret, and predict the colors, magnetic behavior, and some structures of coordination compounds of transition metals. CFT focuses on...
