Ptfe Lined Cap

A PTFE-lined cap is a screw closure fitted with a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) liner that helps seal and protect chemical containers, making it important for storing reactive, corrosive, or solvent-based materials. When tightened, the liner compresses against the container opening to form a barrier between the contents and the cap, while PTFE’s chemical resistance reduces the risk of contamination, degradation, or unwanted reaction. In chemistry laboratories, PTFE-lined caps support reagent storage, sample preparation, analytical workflows, and transport of chemically demanding solutions. Their use can improve container compatibility and preserve sample integrity when selecting an appropriate vessel and seal is critical.

This method describes high yield in vitro synthesis of both capped and uncapped mRNA from a linearized plasmid containing the Gaussia luciferase (GLuc) gene. The RNA is purified and a fraction of the uncapped RNA is enzymatically capped using the Vaccinia virus capping enzyme. In the final step, the mRNA is transfected into HeLa cells and cell culture supernatants are assayed for luciferase activity.

Lossless Lines

2024

In electrical engineering, a lossless transmission line is characterized by a purely imaginary propagation constant and a resistive characteristic impedance. The ABCD parameters, which describe the relationship between the input and output voltages and currents, indicate an equivalent π circuit with an imaginary series impedance and a shunt admittance. This results in a transmission line that, when the product of the phase constant (beta) and the length of the line is less than pi, exhibits...

Lines in Space

In three-dimensional analytic geometry, a line can be fully described using vector equations when both a point on the line and its direction are known. This approach has practical applications in fields such as engineering and surveying, where precise spatial modeling is essential. For instance, a laser beam from a surveying instrument directed across a construction site can be modeled mathematically as a line using vectors.Let the laser beam originate from a known point P₀, represented by the...
