Implementation Environment

An implementation environment is the organizational, technical, and contextual setting in which a clinical intervention, practice, or health technology is introduced and used. Its conditions, including workflows, available resources, leadership support, policies, infrastructure, and workplace culture, can shape how users adopt an intervention and whether they deliver it as intended. Assessing the implementation environment helps researchers and clinical teams identify barriers, adapt training and processes, and evaluate feasibility, fidelity, and sustainability. This perspective connects an intervention’s design with real-world care delivery, supporting more effective translation of evidence into routine clinical practice.
