Compressed Air Drying

Compressed air drying is the removal of water vapor and liquid moisture from compressed air to protect pneumatic equipment, products, and distribution systems. As air is compressed, its moisture concentration increases; when the air cools, vapor can condense, so dryers use refrigeration, adsorption, or other separation processes to reduce the pressure dew point and limit downstream condensation. In engineering systems, dry air helps prevent corrosion, pipe blockages, lubricant degradation, and freezing in outdoor lines. Selecting an appropriate drying method and dew point supports reliable operation in manufacturing, instrumentation, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and other applications requiring controlled compressed-air quality.

Compression Tests on Hardened Concrete

2023

Source: Roberto Leon, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA There are two distinct stages in a construction project involving concrete. The first stage involves batching, transporting, and casting fresh concrete. At this stage, the material is viscous, and the workability and finishability are the key performance criteria. The second stage occurs when the hydration process begins shortly after the concrete is placed in the form, and the concrete will...

Presented here is a protocol that guarantees uniform distribution of initial moisture inside of a fabric and investigates the effects of hot-air thermodynamic parameters (velocity, temperature, and direction) and thickness on the fabric's drying characteristics (e.g., temperature variation) under the condition of air impingement.

Measurement of Compressive Stress-Strain Response at Small-Strains
