Fixed-step Simulation

Fixed-step simulation is a numerical modeling approach in which a system’s behavior is calculated at uniform, predetermined time intervals, making it important for repeatable analysis and time-based system design. At each step, the simulator reads inputs, evaluates governing equations or component models, and updates variables such as position, velocity, temperature, or voltage; the selected step size affects accuracy, stability, and computational cost. In engineering, fixed-step methods support dynamic-system modeling, controller testing, hardware-in-the-loop experiments, and implementation on real-time processors, where predictable execution is essential. Comparing results across step sizes can reveal numerical error and help engineers balance fidelity with speed before deploying a design.

Fixing Double-strand Breaks

2020

The double-stranded structure of DNA has two major advantages. First, it serves as a safe repository of genetic information where one strand serves as the back-up in case the other strand is damaged. Second, the double-helical structure can be wrapped around proteins called histones to form nucleosomes, which can then be tightly wound to form chromosomes. This way, DNA chains up to 2 inches long can be contained within microscopic structures in a cell. A double-stranded break not only damages...

Fixed Assets

A fixed asset, a long-term resource owned by a company, is a strategic tool used to generate income. These assets, critical components of a company's balance sheet, represent significant investments and play a pivotal role in the company's financial health. These assets are not intended for resale during regular business operations but are used in production, supply chain, or administrative functions. For example, a cheese manufacturer might purchase packing machinery to use over five years.

Study of Siphon Breaker Experiment and Simulation for a Research Reactor

2017

The siphon breaking phenomenon was investigated experimentally and a theoretical model was proposed. A simulation program based on the theoretical model was developed and the results of the simulation program were compared with experimental results. It was concluded that the results of the simulation program matched the experimental results well.
