Gallium Nitride Channel

A gallium nitride channel is the current-carrying region of a semiconductor device made from gallium nitride (GaN), a wide-bandgap material valued for high-voltage and high-frequency operation. In GaN high-electron-mobility transistors, polarization effects at an AlGaN/GaN heterojunction create a high-density two-dimensional electron gas, while the gate controls this channel by modulating its carrier concentration and conductivity. This combination supports rapid switching, high breakdown strength, and efficient power handling. Gallium nitride channels therefore enable compact power converters, radio-frequency amplifiers, radar systems, and other advanced electronic devices, while ongoing engineering improves thermal management, reliability, and normally-off operation.

Gallium(III) 5,10,15-(tris)pentafluorophenylcorrole and its freebase analogue exhibit low micromolar cell cytotoxicity. This manuscript describes an RNA transcription reaction, imaging RNA with an ethidium bromide-stained gel, and quantifying RNA with UV-Vis spectroscopy, in order to assess transcription inhibition by corroles and demonstrates a straightforward method of evaluating anticancer candidate properties.

The use of electron channeling contrast imaging in a scanning electron microscope to characterize defects in III-V/Si heteroexpitaxial thin films is described. This method yields similar results to plan-view transmission electron microscopy, but in significantly less time due to lack of required sample preparation.
