Multiplexer Measurement

Multiplexer measurement is an engineering method for acquiring data from multiple signal sources with a shared measurement instrument or data-acquisition channel. A multiplexer selects one input at a time, typically through electronic or electromechanical switching, and connects it to the measurement path so the system can sample, record, or compare signals sequentially. This approach reduces hardware requirements, wiring, and system cost while supporting measurements from sensors, test points, or distributed devices. Engineers must account for channel switching time, signal settling, isolation, and measurement accuracy when designing the system, making multiplexer measurement useful in automated testing, instrumentation, monitoring, and control applications.

Multiplex fluorescence immunoassays are becoming a reference for serology testing. Their application, however, is limited by the complexity and time-consuming bead-analyte coupling processes. This report presents a semi-automated, reproducible multiplex microsphere bead coupling protocol that is comparable to the standard method while considerably reducing time to results.

Multiplex assays can provide beneficial information for basic cellular mechanisms and eliminate waste of reagents and unnecessary repetitive experiments. We describe here a multiplex caspase-3/7 activity assay, using fluorescent- and luminescent-based methods, to determine cell viability in an in vitro hypothalamic model following oxidative challenge with palmitic acid.
