Wafer-scale Testing

Wafer-scale testing is the evaluation of semiconductor devices while they remain arranged on a single wafer, enabling manufacturers to identify faulty dies before assembly and packaging. Automated test equipment uses probe cards to contact individual die and measure electrical characteristics, such as continuity, leakage, threshold voltage, and functional response under controlled conditions. By linking test results with wafer position, engineers can map defects, monitor fabrication processes, and estimate manufacturing yield. This approach reduces packaging costs, supports process development, and provides critical quality data for integrated circuits, sensors, memory devices, and other microfabricated components.

A method for permanently bonding two silicon wafers so as to realize a uniform enclosure is described. This includes wafer preparation, cleaning, RT bonding, and annealing processes. The resulting bonded wafers (cells) have uniformity of enclosure ~1%1,2. The resulting geometry allows for measurements of confined liquids and gasses.

Hydronium and hydroxide ions are present both in pure water and in all aqueous solutions, and their concentrations are inversely proportional as determined by the ion product of water (Kw). The concentrations of these ions in a solution are often critical determinants of the solution’s properties and the chemical behaviors of its other solutes. Two different solutions can differ in their hydronium or hydroxide ion concentrations by a million, billion, or even trillion times. A common means of...

Source: Laboratories of Gary Lewandowski, Dave Strohmetz, and Natalie Ciarocco—Monmouth University In any experiment researchers have the challenge of creating experiences for participants that are consistent (i.e., reliable) and authentic (i.e., valid). Yet there are many ways to manipulate any one variable. For example, if you want participants to feel sad, you can have them think of their own sad memory, watch a sad video, or read a sad story. Researchers must find the best way to...
