Biotinylated Detection Antibodies

Biotinylated detection antibodies are antibodies chemically linked to biotin, a small vitamin-derived molecule, for sensitive identification of specific antigens in immunological assays. After the antibody binds its target, biotin interacts with streptavidin or avidin conjugated to an enzyme or fluorophore, producing a measurable colorimetric, chemiluminescent, or fluorescent signal. In immunology and infection research, these reagents commonly support sandwich ELISA, multiplex assays, flow cytometry, and tissue-based detection of cytokines, microbial proteins, or host-response markers. Their strong biotin-streptavidin interaction enables signal amplification and flexible assay design, helping researchers quantify infection-related antigens and characterize immune responses.

Cell-surface Biotinylation Assay

2023

A cell can regulate the amount of particular proteins on its cell membrane through endocytosis, following which cell surface proteins are effectively sequestered in the cytoplasm. Once within a cell, these surface proteins can be either destroyed or “recycled” back to the membrane. The cell surface biotinylation assay provides researchers with a way to study these phenomena. The technique makes use of a derivative of the small molecule biotin, which can label surface proteins and then be...

Biotinylated Cell-Penetrating Peptide Probe to Detect Protein-Protein Interactions

2025

This video demonstrates a technique that uses biotinylated cell-penetrating peptides to detect intracellular protein-protein interactions. The cell-penetrating peptides facilitate the conjugated peptide to enter a cell and specifically bind to its interacting proteins. The biotin, after binding to avidin, allows purification of the interacting proteins’ complex from a cell lysate.

Detecting Circulating Anti-Glycan Antibodies with a Printed Glycan Array

2025

This video demonstrates printed glycan array technology for analyzing circulating anti-glycan antibodies in mouse serum. The antibodies in the serum interact with specific glycans on the chip, which is confirmed by immunostaining followed by fluorescence scanning.

A Technique to Detect Cyanobacterial Strains Using an Antibody Microarray Chip

2025

This video demonstrates a method to detect the Cyanobacterial strains in an environmental sample using an antibody microarray chip. Samples carrying various bacteria interact with printed antibodies, and immunostaining with fluorophore-labeled anti-cyanobacterial-strain antibodies reveals the presence of specific cyanobacterial strains through fluorescence in distinct spots.

A Multiplex Serological Assay for the Detection of Antibody Responses to Arboviruses

2025

Multiplex fluorescence immunoassays are becoming a reference for serology testing. Their application, however, is limited by the complexity and time-consuming bead-analyte coupling processes. This report presents a semi-automated, reproducible multiplex microsphere bead coupling protocol that is comparable to the standard method while considerably reducing time to results.
