Ccl-23 Cells

Ccl-23 cells are a murine macrophage-like cell line used as an in vitro model for studying innate immune function and host responses to infection. In culture, these cells respond to external stimuli through macrophage-associated signaling pathways that regulate activation, inflammatory mediator production, and interactions with microbes or immune components. Researchers use Ccl-23 cells to investigate phagocyte biology, cytokine responses, pathogen-induced inflammation, and immunomodulatory effects of candidate compounds. Their reproducible growth and experimentally accessible responses support controlled comparisons that complement primary-cell and animal studies, helping clarify mechanisms of innate immunity and identify potential therapeutic strategies.

This protocol describes a common and feasible method of inducing acute liver injury (ALI) via CCl4 exposure through an orogastric tube. CCl4 exposure induces ALI through the formation of reactive oxygen species during its biotransformation in the liver. This method is used to analyze the pathophysiology of ALI and examine different hepatoprotective strategies.
