Gag-icre Reporter Virus

Gag-iCre reporter virus is an engineered viral tool that permanently marks cells exposed to viral particles, enabling researchers to identify infection events in immunology and infection studies. It incorporates improved Cre recombinase, iCre, into the viral Gag structural protein, allowing the enzyme to enter target cells during viral entry and activate a loxP-flanked reporter gene in Cre-sensitive cells. The resulting genetic labeling can reveal infected cell populations, tissue distribution, and infection histories even when viral gene expression is transient or later undetectable. This approach supports analysis of host susceptibility, immune responses, viral dissemination, and cellular outcomes in experimental infection models.

(2014)This video demonstrates how a tetracistronic minigenome plasmid mimicking the Ebola virus genome is transfected into human cells along with helper plasmids. Inside the cells, viral proteins and luciferase are expressed, leading to the assembly and budding of non-pathogenic, replication-competent virus-like...

An In Vitro Recombinant Virus Reporter System for the Detection of Viral Infection

This video demonstrates an in vitro technique to detect hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection via a recombinant HBV reporter system. Upon infecting host cells, the recombinant viral genome expresses the luciferase reporter enzyme, which produces bioluminescence upon oxidizing its substrate — helping detect viral infection.

The low-energy water-accommodated fraction (LEWAF) of crude oil is a challenging system to analyze, because over time, this complex mixture undergoes chemical transformations. This protocol illustrates methods for the preparation of the LEWAF sample and for performing photo-irradiation and chemical analysis by trapped ion mobility spectrometry–FT-ICR MS.
