Micro-dispenser System

A micro-dispenser system is a precision instrument that delivers very small, controlled volumes of liquid, enabling accurate handling of reagents, samples, and cells. It typically uses a reservoir, dispensing channel, and controlled actuation to form and release droplets or aliquots at a defined location, while software or hardware regulates timing and volume. In immunology and infection research, micro-dispenser systems support miniaturized assays, serial dilution, localized reagent delivery, and controlled cell or pathogen exposure, reducing sample use and improving experimental consistency. Their precision can strengthen reproducibility in screening, diagnostics, and studies of host-pathogen interactions.

This protocol describes a bioprinting methodology using an automated robotic depositing system that incorporates etched topographical guidance cues with the precision deposition of a cell bearing hydrogel bioink. The printed cells are directly delivered to the etched features and are able to sense and orientate with them.

Peptide adsorption to plasticware during traditional tip-based serial dilutions can significantly impact potency determination and confound the understanding of structure-activity relationships used for lead identification and lead optimization phases of drug discovery. Here methods for automated acoustic non-contact serial dilution of peptide samples are described.

We have developed an automated cell culture and interrogation platform for micro-scale cell stimulation experiments. The platform offers simple, versatile, and precise control in cultivating and stimulating small populations of cells, and recovering lysates for molecular analyses. The platform is well suited to studies that use precious cells and/or reagents.
