Discussion Section

A discussion section is the part of a scholarly paper that interprets study findings and explains their significance in relation to the research question. In information literacy, it works by linking claims to evidence, comparing results with reliable sources, and distinguishing supported conclusions from assumptions or speculation. Writers typically address patterns in the data, limitations in the methods, alternative interpretations, and implications for future research or practice. Reading and evaluating a discussion section helps students and researchers judge how responsibly an author uses evidence, communicates uncertainty, and builds knowledge from information.

Creating and Applying a Reference to Facilitate the Discussion and Classification of Proteins in a Diverse Group

2017

The goal of this protocol is to develop a reference for divergent proteins in a group that lacks coherent criteria for nomenclature and classification. This reference will facilitate analyses and discussion of the group as a whole and can be used in addition to established names.

Noroviruses are a major cause of gastroenteritis yet molecular techniques for their characterisation are still relatively new. Here we report two different reverse genetics approaches for the efficient recovery of murine norovirus (MNV), the only member of this genus which can be propagated in cell culture.
