Blood Sample Measurement

Blood sample measurement is the quantitative analysis of cells, chemicals, proteins, and other properties in blood to assess health and identify disease. After collection, a sample may be separated into plasma or serum, prepared to prevent degradation, and analyzed using methods such as automated cell counting, spectrophotometry, immunoassays, or molecular testing. Results are compared with validated reference ranges and interpreted alongside clinical findings, medications, and patient conditions. In medicine, these measurements support diagnosis, disease monitoring, treatment decisions, and screening, while standardized handling, calibration, and quality control help ensure that reported values are accurate and comparable.

Blood Sampling and Hormone Measurement for Determining the Stage in the Ovarian Cycle in Marmosets

2024

This protocol describes blood and urine sampling for measuring progesterone/estradiol and chorionic gonadotropin levels to determine the ovarian cycle stage. The hormone levels are used to predict and determine the timing of ovulation and hormones are injected to regulate the ovarian cycle and oocyte growth.

2023

Source: Hamna J. Qureshi and Craig J. Goergen, Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana Here we will highlight the key similarities and differences of noninvasive blood pressure measurement techniques between humans and rodents and examine the engineering principles that govern blood pressure. The principles that govern current cuff technology to acquire systolic and diastolic pressures will also be discussed. Commercially available cuffs that connect...
