Creative Arts Therapy

Creative arts therapy is a group of therapeutic approaches that use visual art, music, dance, drama, or creative writing to support psychological, emotional, social, and physical well-being. In structured sessions led by trained practitioners, patients engage in creative activities and reflect on their experiences, which can provide nonverbal forms of expression, strengthen communication, and help process illness-related stress. In medicine, creative arts therapy may complement conventional care for people managing chronic disease, pain, neurological conditions, mental health challenges, or rehabilitation. Its applications include improving coping, participation, and quality of life while offering clinicians additional ways to understand and support patient needs.
