Disease Staging

Disease staging is the process of classifying a disease according to its extent, severity, or progression, helping clinicians describe a patient’s condition consistently and guide care. It typically combines clinical examination, laboratory findings, imaging, pathology, and other diagnostic information to determine disease features such as lesion size, anatomical spread, or involvement of distant sites. In medicine, staging supports prognosis, treatment selection, clinical trial eligibility, and communication among healthcare teams. Repeated assessments can also reveal progression or response to therapy, making staging an important framework for personalized treatment planning and evaluating outcomes across patient populations.

Generating an Organ Culture Model to Simulate Early-Stage Intervertebral Disc Disease

2025

This video demonstrates the development of a pro-inflammatory and degenerative organ culture model for early-stage intervertebral disc (IVD) disease using TNF-α. It outlines the procedure for injecting TNF-α into the intervertebral disc and explains the mechanisms through which TNF-α induces inflammation and degradation of the IVD.

Stages of Sleep

2024

Sleep progresses through distinct stages, each characterized by specific brain wave patterns and physiological responses ranging from wakefulness to stages of non-rapid eye movement, known as non-REM, to rapid eye movement, referred to as REM. Understanding these stages helps in recognizing how sleep supports various bodily and cognitive functions. Before sleep begins, in wakefulness, the brain exhibits primarily beta waves, which are high in frequency and low in amplitude, indicating alertness...

Stages of General Anesthesia

Various sedation levels offer significant advantages in facilitating procedural interventions for patients undergoing medical or invasive surgical procedures. These levels span from anxiolysis to general anesthesia, providing a spectrum of sedative effects to cater to specific patient needs. Anxiolysis reduces anxiety and is achieved through minimal sedation, enabling patients to remain awake and responsive while feeling more at ease during the procedure. This level can benefit minor...
