Endovascular Device Testing

Endovascular device testing is the systematic evaluation of catheters, stents, grafts, and other devices designed for placement within blood vessels, helping determine whether they perform safely and reliably. Testing combines bench-top measurements, simulated vascular models, and controlled flow conditions to assess deployment, trackability, flexibility, dimensional stability, resistance to pressure and fatigue, and interactions with blood or vessel walls. In medicine, these evaluations support device design, quality control, regulatory review, and risk assessment before clinical use. By identifying failure modes and performance limits, endovascular testing improves procedural reliability and informs the development of safer technologies for treating vascular disease.

Histological and biochemical modifications after aneurysm endograft exclusion are still unclear. We describe a new model of endograft implantation on a murine aneurysm. Through thrombus analysis with and without persistant circulating blood stream interface, and new endovascular biomaterials evaluation, this model will help to better understand endovascular aneurysm exclusion pathobiology.

Surgery is the gold standard for accessible arteriovenious malformations (AVMs), and pre-operative embolization can simplify this procedure. We describe our approach for staged endovascular embolization and open resection of AVMs, and provide a representative clinical example highlighting the advantages of a comprehensively trained neurovascular surgeon leading a multi-disciplinary clinical team.
