Mandibular Incisor Control

Mandibular incisor control is the orthodontic management of the position, angulation, and inclination of the lower front teeth within the dental arch. It relies on carefully directed forces and moments, often delivered through orthodontic appliances, to guide tooth movement while maintaining anchorage and supporting stable occlusion. Clinicians use this control during alignment, space closure, bite correction, and treatment of crowding or malocclusion, while considering the supporting bone and periodontal tissues. Accurate control can improve function, facial balance, and long-term stability, making it an important principle in orthodontic diagnosis, treatment planning, and mechanical force design.

Understanding enamel formation and possible alterations requires the study of ameloblast activity. Here, we describe a reliable and consistent method to micro-dissect enamel organs containing secretion- and maturation-stage ameloblasts that may be used for further quantitative and qualitative experimental procedures.
