Modality Education

Modality education is the structured study of medical diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, including how they work, when clinicians use them, and what limitations affect patient care. It connects each modality’s underlying physical, biological, or procedural principles to the information or treatment response it produces, while emphasizing factors such as accuracy, safety, cost, and clinical context. In medicine, this knowledge helps students and professionals compare available approaches, interpret results, select appropriate interventions, and communicate effectively across specialties. Strong modality education supports evidence-based decision-making, reduces inappropriate use, and prepares healthcare teams to adopt emerging technologies responsibly.

Classical multivariate pattern analysis predicts sensory stimuli a subject perceives from neural activity in the corresponding cortices (e.g. visual stimuli from activity in visual cortex). Here, we apply pattern analysis cross-modally and show that sound- and touch-implying visual stimuli can be predicted from activity in auditory and somatosensory cortices, respectively.

Sensation typically is the process by which the sensory receptors and sense organs detect stimuli from the internal and external environment and transmit this information to the central nervous system for processing. General senses refer to the broad category of sensory information detected by receptors in the body and can be further grouped into somatic and visceral senses. Somatic sensations include touch, pressure, temperature, and pain and are essential for navigating our environment and...

Here, we present a protocol to improve the quality of data from home sleep testing by providing a method to enhance instructions through a structured participant visit. This protocol includes the implementation of a step-by-step educational manual with photos to ensure proper placement of equipment.

Behavioral finance explores the psychological factors influencing financial decision-making, providing insights into how emotions, cognitive biases, and heuristics impact investment and economic choices. Traditional finance theories assume rational behavior, but behavioral finance highlights the systematic errors individuals make due to biases like overconfidence, loss aversion, and herd behavior.Integrating behavioral finance into business curricula equips students with a deeper understanding...
