Modified Hotz Procedure

The Modified Hotz Procedure is a corrective eyelid surgery used primarily to treat congenital lower-eyelid entropion and epiblepharon, conditions in which the eyelid margin or lashes turn inward and irritate the eye. Through an incision beneath the eyelashes, the surgeon removes or repositions a measured amount of redundant skin and orbicularis muscle, then places sutures to rotate the eyelid margin outward and maintain proper lash direction. This approach can reduce corneal irritation, tearing, and surface injury while preserving eyelid function. It is particularly valuable in pediatric ophthalmology when persistent eyelid malposition does not resolve spontaneously or causes clinically significant ocular symptoms.

Source: Laboratories of Margaret Workman and Kimberly Frye - Depaul University Genetic modification of foods has been a controversial issue due to debated concerns over health and environmental safety. This experiment demonstrates technical understanding of how food DNA is genetically identified, allowing for educated decision making about the safety and potential dangers of using genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in food supplies. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is used to amplify food DNA...
