Post Laser Erythema

Post-laser erythema is the temporary redness that appears after laser treatment, reflecting a common skin response to controlled light-based injury. Laser energy produces localized heat that can stimulate inflammatory signaling and dilation of superficial blood vessels, increasing blood flow near the treated area; its intensity and duration depend on the device, treatment settings, skin type, and procedure. In medicine, recognizing this response helps clinicians assess treatment effects, distinguish expected inflammation from complications, and guide patient monitoring and aftercare. Studying post-laser erythema also supports safer parameter selection and evaluation of recovery following dermatologic and cosmetic procedures.

A protocol to detect and automate mode locking in a pre-adjusted nonlinear polarization rotation fiber laser is presented. The detection of a sudden change in the output polarization state when mode locking occurs is used to command the alignment of an intra-cavity polarization controller in order to find mode-locking conditions.
