Sepsis Management

Sepsis management is the coordinated recognition and treatment of life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated response to infection. Care begins with rapid assessment of perfusion, respiratory status, mental state, and laboratory indicators, followed by timely antimicrobial therapy, fluid resuscitation, and identification and control of the infection source. If hypotension persists after fluids, vasopressors support blood pressure and tissue perfusion, while oxygen, ventilatory support, renal replacement, or other organ support may be required. In medicine, structured sepsis management reduces progression to septic shock, limits secondary organ injury, and guides monitoring in emergency, inpatient, and critical-care settings.

A Data-Driven Approach to Quantifying Immune States in Sepsis

2025

This study investigates the immune condition in sepsis by analyzing the quantitative relationships among white blood cells, lymphocytes, and neutrophils in sepsis patients and healthy controls using data visualization analysis and three-dimensional numerical fitting to establish a mathematical model.

Experimental sepsis can be induced in mice using the cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) method. Current protocols to assess autophagy in vivo in the context of CLP-induced sepsis are presented here: A protocol for measuring autophagy using (GFP)-LC3 mice, and a protocol for measuring autophagosome formation by electron microscopy.
