Video Modeling

Video modeling is an instructional and behavioral technique in which a learner watches a recorded demonstration of a target skill, behavior, or clinical interaction before attempting to reproduce it. The video presents actions in a consistent sequence, allowing viewers to observe procedures, communication patterns, decision steps, and expected outcomes; repeated viewing can support attention, recall, and guided practice. In medicine, video modeling can complement simulation and supervised training for tasks such as patient communication, physical examination, procedural preparation, and rehabilitation exercises. By standardizing demonstrations and enabling review at the learner’s pace, it supports skills development, assessment, and more consistent clinical performance.

Video-oculography is a very quantitative method to investigate ocular motor performance as well as motor learning. Here, we describe how to measure video-oculography in mice. Applying this technique on normal, pharmacologically-treated or genetically modified mice is a powerful research tool to explore the underlying physiology of motor behaviors.
