Thyroid Artery Doppler

Thyroid artery Doppler is a noninvasive ultrasound technique that evaluates blood flow in the arteries supplying the thyroid gland, adding hemodynamic information to structural imaging. It uses the Doppler effect, in which motion of red blood cells produces measurable frequency shifts in reflected sound waves; spectral analysis can then estimate flow velocity and indices such as peak systolic velocity, end-diastolic velocity, and resistive index. In medicine, these measurements help characterize thyroid vascularity and support assessment of conditions such as Graves’ disease, thyroiditis, and selected thyroid nodules. The technique can also provide a reproducible basis for monitoring vascular changes during evaluation or treatment.

Positioning Laser Doppler Probe: A Technique to Implant Probe Over Middle Cerebral Artery for Blood Flow Measurement in Murine Model

2025

This video describes the surgical procedure to immobilize the laser Doppler probe over the murine brain's middle cerebral artery, or MCA. The probe helps to measure the blood flow in the brain's microvasculature by measuring the Doppler shift caused due to the motion of red blood cells within the artery.

Orthotopic Inoculation of Thyroid Cancer Cells into Murine Thyroid: A Procedure to Establish Orthotopic Thyroid Cancer Mouse Model

2013

Several animal models of cerebral ischemia have been developed to simulate the human condition of stroke. This protocol describes the endothelin-1 (ET-1) induced middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model for ischemic stroke in rats. In addition, important considerations, advantages, and shortcomings of this model are discussed.

2024

Here we present a 5D ultrasound technique combining multi-planar 3D reconstruction and color Doppler fusion, which enables synchronous visualization of thyroid structural and functional information. By minimizing blind spots, this method allows rapid, precise localization of lesions to improve diagnostic accuracy, especially benefiting novice practitioners.
