Dorsal Tissue Strips

Dorsal tissue strips are narrow explants of dorsal neural tissue used to investigate how neurons and their processes respond to local cellular and molecular cues. Researchers isolate and culture the tissue under controlled conditions, preserving aspects of its organization and allowing axon growth, cell migration, and guidance responses to be observed directly. In neuroscience, this preparation supports studies of neural development, including how extracellular signals attract or repel growing axons and how neighboring cells influence neuronal behavior. By comparing untreated and experimentally manipulated strips, investigators can evaluate mechanisms of neural circuit formation and identify factors that regulate nervous system development.

2011

We present a method for chromatin immunoprecipitation from dorsal root ganglia tissue following axonal injury. The approach can be used to identify specific transcription factor binding sites and epigenetic modification of histone and DNA important for the regeneration of injured axons in both the peripheral and central nervous system.

Frozen Skin Tissue Block Preparation: A Protocol to Preserve Cutaneous Melanoma Samples from Murine Dorsal Skin

Voltammetry: Stripping Methods

2024

Anodic Stripping Voltammetry (ASV), Cathodic Stripping Voltammetry (CSV), and Adsorptive Stripping Voltammetry (AdSV) are electrochemical techniques used to determine trace amounts of analytes in solution. These methods involve applying a potential to an electrode and measuring the resulting current. Anodic Stripping Voltammetry (ASV) ASV is used to determine metals and metalloids at trace levels. It involves two steps: deposition and stripping. First, a negative potential is applied to the...

(2023)This video demonstrates a luminescence-based assay for assessing the antibacterial efficacy of an antibiotic-loaded polymeric strip by quantifying ATP-driven luminescence, which decreases in bacterial cultures exposed to the antibiotic.

Development of a Colloidal Gold-based Immunochromatographic Test Strip for Detection of Cetacean Myoglobin

This protocol describes the development of two IgG class monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) strongly reactive to myoglobin of cetaceans. These mAbs are applied on a colloidal gold immunochromatographic test strip based on the sandwich format to differentiate the Mb of cetaceans from seal and other animals.
