Frequency-specific Effects

Frequency-specific effects are changes in neural activity, communication, or behavior that depend on the frequency of an oscillation, sensory input, or applied stimulation. Neurons and neural circuits respond differently across frequencies because membrane time constants, synaptic kinetics, network resonance, and inhibitory-excitatory interactions determine how signals are integrated over time; repeated input can also entrain ongoing brain rhythms. In neuroscience, studying these effects helps link frequency bands such as theta, alpha, beta, and gamma with circuit function without treating them as isolated codes. These findings inform EEG analysis, sensory and motor research, and frequency-tuned interventions such as transcranial stimulation, while clarifying how rhythmic activity supports perception, cognition, and disease mechanisms.

Evaluation of Ribbon Synapses at Specific Frequency Regions of Mouse Cochlea

2025

This video demonstrates a method for evaluating ribbon synapses in specific regions of the mouse cochlea. It utilizes immunostaining and confocal imaging techniques to identify functional synapses across different frequency regions in each cochlear turn.

Morphological and Functional Evaluation of Ribbon Synapses at Specific Frequency Regions of the Mouse Cochlea

This manuscript describes an experimental protocol for evaluating the morphological characteristics and functional status of ribbon synapses in normal mice. The present model is also suitable for noise-induced and age-related cochlear synaptopathy-restricted models. The correlative results of previous mouse studies are also discussed.

What is a Frequency Distribution

2023

A frequency is the number of times a value of the data occurs. The sum of all the frequency values represents the total number of students included in the sample. It is commonly used to group data of quantitative types. Frequency distributions can be displayed in a table, histogram, line graph, dot plot, or pie chart, just to name a few. A histogram is a graphical representation of tabulated frequencies, shown as adjacent rectangles, erected over discrete intervals (bins), with an area equal to...

Mean From a Frequency Distribution

2023

Sometimes, data gathered from an experiment on a large sample or population are organized into concise tables. In such cases, the frequency of the quantitative data set is plotted in the form of a table. Or else, the data values are grouped into the quantity’s intervals, which form classes, and their respective frequencies are known. That is, the data values are distributed over different categories or classes. This is known as frequency distribution. When such a data set is encountered, the...
