Integration Method

An integration method is a mathematical procedure for evaluating integrals, which quantify accumulated quantities such as area, displacement, work, probability, or total change. In physics, these methods reconstruct a quantity from its rate of change by applying rules such as substitution, integration by parts, partial fractions, or numerical approximation when an analytic solution is unavailable. The selected method depends on the form of the integrand, boundary conditions, and required precision. Integration methods support calculations in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum physics, where they connect local laws and measurable rates to global physical outcomes.

Velocity and Position by Integral Method

2023

If acceleration as a function of time is known, then velocity and position functions can be derived using integral calculus. For constant acceleration, the integral equations refer to the first and second kinematic equations for velocity and position functions, respectively. Consider an example to calculate the velocity and position from the acceleration function. A motorboat is traveling at a constant velocity of 5.0 m/s when it starts to decelerate to arrive at the dock. Its acceleration is...

Routine detection methods utilizing viral genome amplification are limited by their inability to discriminate infectious from non-infectious particles. The purpose of this article is to provide detailed protocols for alternative methods to aid in discrimination of infectious norovirus particles using aptamer binding, dynamic light scattering, and transmission electron microscopy.

Integration by Parts: Indefinite Integrals

Integration by parts is a fundamental technique in calculus for evaluating integrals involving the product of two functions. It is particularly useful when direct integration is not feasible. The method is based on the product rule for differentiation, which states that the derivative of a product equals the derivative of the first function times the second, plus the first function times the derivative of the second. By integrating this identity and rearranging terms, the integration by parts...
