Template Stripping Technique

Template stripping technique is a surface-fabrication method that produces exceptionally smooth metal or other material surfaces by transferring a template’s interface to a deposited film. In a typical process, a material is deposited onto a rigid, low-roughness template, bonded to a supporting substrate, and then mechanically separated; the exposed film surface replicates the template rather than the deposition side. This approach reduces nanoscale roughness and contamination, enabling controlled studies of thin-film properties, surface interactions, optical responses, and plasmonic or nanophotonic structures. It is valuable in physics because well-defined surfaces improve measurement reproducibility and help isolate how geometry and material properties govern device behavior.

DNA as a Genetic Template

Two structural features of the DNA molecule provide a basis for the mechanisms of heredity: the four nucleotide bases and its double-stranded nature. The Watson-Crick model of double-helical DNA structure, proposed in 1952, drew heavily upon the X-ray crystallography work of researchers Rosalind Franklin and Maurice Wilkins. Watson, Crick, and Wilkins jointly received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their work in 1962. Franklin was, controversially, excluded from the prize for...

Voltammetry: Stripping Methods

Anodic Stripping Voltammetry (ASV), Cathodic Stripping Voltammetry (CSV), and Adsorptive Stripping Voltammetry (AdSV) are electrochemical techniques used to determine trace amounts of analytes in solution. These methods involve applying a potential to an electrode and measuring the resulting current. Anodic Stripping Voltammetry (ASV) ASV is used to determine metals and metalloids at trace levels. It involves two steps: deposition and stripping. First, a negative potential is applied to the...

This protocol describes the development of two IgG class monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) strongly reactive to myoglobin of cetaceans. These mAbs are applied on a colloidal gold immunochromatographic test strip based on the sandwich format to differentiate the Mb of cetaceans from seal and other animals.
