Participant Recruitment

Participant recruitment is the process of identifying, contacting, and enrolling people who meet a study’s eligibility criteria, making it a foundational step in psychological research. Researchers define the target population, select a sampling approach, and use channels such as community outreach, registries, advertisements, or online platforms; screening then assesses eligibility before informed consent and enrollment. Careful recruitment improves sample diversity, supports adequate statistical power, and reduces selection bias, while transparent procedures protect autonomy and privacy. In psychology, effective recruitment helps determine how confidently findings about behavior, cognition, mental health, or social processes can be generalized to broader populations.

Their input is essential in identifying specific needs and helping to define technical and functional specifications. For instance, in a manufacturing company, the production...

An In Vitro Flow Investigation of the Effect of Stromal Cells on Leukocyte Recruitment

2025

The video demonstrates a method for investigating the impact of stromal cells on leukocyte recruitment. In a parallel plate flow chamber model, pro-inflammatory cytokines induce the expression of adhesion receptors by endothelial cells, facilitating neutrophil recruitment and migration. The cross-talk between stromal cells and endothelial cells diminishes neutrophil recruitment to the endothelial cells.
