Mean Value

Mean value is a measure of central tendency that summarizes a set of numerical observations with a single representative value. In statistics, the arithmetic mean is calculated by adding all observations and dividing the total by the number of observations, while each value contributes equally to the result; extreme observations can therefore shift the mean substantially. Researchers use mean values to compare groups, describe experimental measurements, and identify overall patterns in data. Interpreting the mean alongside sample size, variability, and measures such as the median helps determine whether it accurately represents the distribution and supports sound statistical conclusions.
