Remote Participation

Remote participation is involvement in a study, activity, or social setting without being physically present, typically through digital communication or online platforms. In behavioral research, participants receive instructions and provide responses through video calls, web-based tasks, surveys, or other connected tools, while researchers record measures such as choices, reaction times, communication patterns, or task completion under specified conditions. This approach can broaden access, reduce travel and scheduling barriers, and support research across geographically distributed populations, although differences in technology, privacy, and testing environments must be considered when interpreting behavioral data.

2015

The goal of this pilot study is to describe a protocol for the remotely-supervised delivery of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) so that the procedure maintains standards of in-clinic practice, including safety, reproducibility, and tolerability. The feasibility of this protocol was tested in participants with multiple sclerosis (MS).

These behaviors can significantly impact long-term financial security and are often driven by cognitive biases and decision-making heuristics.Status Quo Bias in Pension DecisionsOne of pension participation's most prevalent behavioral tendencies is the status quo bias. This cognitive bias leads individuals to prefer existing conditions over making active...

The Measurement of Unsteady Surface Pressure Using a Remote Microphone Probe

Here, we present a protocol to measure, with high spatial resolution, the unsteady surface pressure in turbulent flows. This method demonstrates the construction of a remote microphone probe (RMP) and the determination of its frequency-dependent, complex transfer function. An analytical determination of the dynamic response is presented and validated.

A Familiarization Protocol Facilitates the Participation of Children with ASD in Electrophysiological Research

Electrophysiological research is an important tool for identifying biomarkers of developmental disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), but data collection in these populations remains challenging. This work presents a familiarization protocol to accompany research that includes electroencephalography (EEG) to improve the likelihood of collecting EEG data from children with ASD.
