Stress Induced Weight Gain

Stress-induced weight gain is an increase in body weight associated with prolonged or repeated psychological or physiological stress, reflecting interactions among behavior, metabolism, and hormonal regulation. Stress can activate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, increasing cortisol and influencing appetite, food preferences, sleep, and physical activity; these changes may promote greater energy intake and reduced energy expenditure. In behavioral research, the topic helps explain emotional eating, disrupted routines, and individual differences in weight regulation. Understanding these pathways supports research on stress management, obesity prevention, and interventions that address both environmental pressures and health-related behaviors.

Gain

Gain and phase shift are properties of linear circuits that describe the effect a circuit has on a sinusoidal input voltage or current. The circuit's behavior that contains reactive elements will depend on the frequency of the input sinusoid. As a result, it is observed that the gain and phase shift will all be frequency functions. Gain: Suppose Vin is the input and Vout is the output signal to a circuit. The input and output signals have the amplitude A and B and a phase angle of 0° and θ°,...
