Technology-enhanced Pedagogy

Technology-enhanced pedagogy is the intentional use of digital tools, platforms, and data to support teaching, learning, and assessment. It works by combining instructional strategies with technologies such as learning management systems, interactive simulations, adaptive activities, and digital feedback, which can provide timely responses and make learner participation more visible. In behavior-focused education, these tools help students observe behavioral patterns, practice decision-making in simulated contexts, and connect theoretical concepts with measurable outcomes. They also support instructors in monitoring engagement, tailoring instruction, and evaluating how learning environments influence behavior, making pedagogy more responsive to individual needs and research-informed practice.

Source: Laboratories of Nicholaus Noles, Judith Danovitch, and Asheley Landrum—University of Louisville Children have many tools they use over the course of development to learn from adults. Perhaps the earliest tool is imitation, simply copying what they see an adult do or say. However, children actually learn much more effectively than one might expect if they were only imitating. This is because, when it comes to learning and teaching, children and adults have a special relationship.
