Carbon Black Nanoparticles

Carbon black nanoparticles are nanoscale carbon-rich particles produced by incomplete combustion or thermal decomposition of hydrocarbons, valued for their high surface area and tunable electrical and optical properties. In bioengineering, their behavior depends strongly on particle size, aggregation state, surface chemistry, and interactions with proteins or cells; oxidation or polymer coatings can improve dispersion and provide functional groups for bioconjugation. These characteristics support research on electrochemical biosensors, imaging platforms, drug-delivery systems, and composite biomaterials. Careful control of composition, dose, and exposure conditions is essential because cellular uptake, oxidative stress, and inflammatory responses can vary with surface properties and formulation.

Analysis of rodent cerebrovascular anatomy plays an important role in experimental stroke research. In this context, intravascular perfusion with colored latex has been considered as a standard tool for several years. However, this technique implies distinct technical limitations, which undermine its reproducibility. Here, we describe a simple method to visualize cerebral vessels in a reproducible manner. Injection of a mixture of two commercially available carbon black inks through the left...

Synthesis and Functionalization of Nitrogen-doped Carbon Nanotube Cups with Gold Nanoparticles as Cork Stoppers

We discussed the synthesis of individual graphitic nanocups using a series of techniques including chemical vapor deposition, acid oxidation and probe-tip sonication. By citrate reduction of HAuCl4, the graphitic nanocups were effectively corked with gold nanoparticles due to the chemically reactive edges of the cups.

Generation of Hypoparathyroid Rats via Carbon-Nanoparticle-Assisted Parathyroidectomy

2023

An animal model of acquired hypoparathyroidism (HypoPT) is crucial to understanding how HypoPT affects mineral ion homeostasis and to verify the effectiveness of novel treatments. Here, a technique is presented to generate an acquired hypoparathyroidism (AHypoPT) rat model by parathyroidectomy (PTX) using carbon nanoparticles.

Black Box Model

2024

The Black Box Model of Consumer Behavior conceptualizes the decision-making process as a "black box" where inputs (stimuli) lead to outputs (responses) without fully revealing the internal cognitive processes. It emphasizes the mystery of the consumer's mind and focuses on observable external factors and responses. The model includes external stimuli (marketing efforts, social influences), the consumer's black box (psychological factors, perception, and attitudes), and the resulting behavioral...
