Skin Lesion Images

Skin lesion images are visual records of abnormal or altered skin areas used to document appearance, support clinical assessment, and enable quantitative research. In bioengineering, cameras or other imaging systems capture features such as color, shape, texture, and border characteristics; image-processing methods can then standardize, segment, and measure these features for comparison across samples or time points. These images support computer-aided analysis, dataset development, and evaluation of tools for lesion classification and monitoring. By linking biological observations with image-based measurements, skin lesion imaging helps researchers develop more reproducible approaches to dermatology, biomedical engineering, and noninvasive disease assessment.

Position the head of a patient with multiple sclerosis inside the radiofrequency or RF coil of an MRI machine.Begin fluid-attenuated inversion recovery or FLAIR imaging. Select a brain slice containing lesions near CSF-rich areas. The system generates a strong magnetic field, aligning protons in healthy and lesioned brain tissue and CSF along its direction, creating net magnetization.Apply an inversion RF pulse to flip the magnetization of all protons, aligning them opposite to the magnetic...

The combination of iterative-bleaching-extends-multiplexity (IBEX) and a commercial nucleotide labeling assay (Click-iT EdU) enables the detection and categorization of dividing cell types in highly dynamic processes in fixed frozen murine tissue sections. Furthermore, a novel open-source image processing pipeline provides high-throughput image acquisition and analysis.
