Association Dissociation

Association dissociation describes the reversible binding and release of molecules, a fundamental process that determines how biological partners interact. During association, molecules form a complex through complementary chemical interactions, while dissociation separates them; the rates of both processes influence binding affinity, equilibrium, and complex stability. In biological techniques, measuring association and dissociation kinetics helps characterize interactions between proteins, nucleic acids, antibodies, ligands, and receptors. These measurements support assay development, biomarker detection, drug discovery, and the interpretation of cellular signaling, providing quantitative insight into how strongly and how long biomolecules interact under defined experimental conditions.

Source: Julian Wills & Jay Van Bavel—New York University One of the core constructs in social psychology is the notion of an attitude toward an object or person. Traditionally, psychologists measured attitudes by simply asking people to self-report their beliefs, opinions, or feelings. This approach has limitations, however, when measuring socially sensitive attitudes, like racial prejudice, because people are often motivated to self-report unprejudiced, egalitarian beliefs (despite...

2025

Dissociative amnesia is a complex psychological condition that manifests as an inability to recall personal information, often tied to traumatic or stressful events. Unlike general amnesia, individuals with this condition retain the ability to perform routine activities and procedural tasks, such as operating a phone or navigating public transportation, yet experience profound gaps in autobiographical memory. These lapses may encompass significant life events, such as suicide attempts or...

2025

Dissociative disorders represent complex psychological conditions characterized by disruptions in consciousness, memory, identity, or perception. These disruptions cause individuals to experience a disconnection from their thoughts, emotions, and memories. The phenomenon is not merely an occasional lapse in attention but a profound alteration in mental functioning that can severely impact daily life. Dissociative Fugue A hallmark feature of dissociative disorders is the dissociative fugue...

Dissociating cells from specific tissue types requires specific parameters for tissue agitation to obtain a high volume of viable, culturable cells. The Miltenyi gentleMACS dissociator optimizes this task with a simple, practical protocol. In this publication the use of this apparatus on lung tissue is explained.
