Agarose Iron Slurry

Agarose iron slurry is a hydrated agarose preparation containing dispersed iron-based material, combining a porous biological matrix with the chemical or physical properties of iron. Agarose provides a water-rich network that holds the iron in suspension, while the iron can interact with biomolecules through coordination, adsorption, or, when magnetic particles are present, response to an external magnetic field. In biology, this material supports sample preparation, affinity-based capture, magnetic separation, and assay development. Its composition and particle properties determine whether it primarily serves as a binding medium, a separable solid phase, or a model material for studying iron-associated processes.
