Jacky Dragon Model

The Jacky dragon model is a biological and biomechanical model based on the Australian jacky dragon lizard, Amphibolurus muricatus, used to investigate how animals move and respond to their environment. Researchers examine the lizard’s body structure, limb movements, posture, and interactions with surfaces to relate physical form to locomotor performance and behavior. This model supports studies of comparative biology, functional morphology, animal biomechanics, and evolution, while also informing the design of biologically inspired robots and movement systems. By connecting anatomy with measurable behavior, the jacky dragon provides an accessible framework for testing how animals adapt movement to ecological demands.

The methodology for fabricating synthetic vocal fold models is described. The models are life-sized and mimic the multi-layer structure of the human vocal folds. Results show the models to self-oscillate at pressures comparable to lung pressure and demonstrate flow-induced vibratory responses that are similar to those of human vocal folds.

Here, we present a systematic approach for developing physiologically relevant, sensitive and specific in vivo assays for interpreting variation in human pathology. Transient genetic manipulation via microinjection of WT and mutant human mRNA and morpholino (MO) antisense oligonucleotides harness the tractability of the developing zebrafish embryo to rapidly assay pathogenic mutations, especially, but not exclusively, in the context of human developmental disorders.

Molecular Models

Physical models representing molecular architectures of chemical compounds play essential roles in understanding chemistry. The use of molecular models makes it easier to visualize the structures and shapes of atoms and molecules. Skeletal Model Simpler two-dimensional representations of chemical compounds are accomplished using skeletal models. The illustration shows only the molecular framework or bonds without explicitly showing the atoms. In this representation, many of the carbon atoms...
