Prognosis

Prognosis is a scientific prediction of the likely course, duration, or outcome of a disease, biological condition, or physiological process. In biology and medicine, it combines information such as diagnosis, disease stage, symptoms, biomarkers, genetic factors, and treatment response with evidence from population studies and statistical models to estimate future outcomes. Prognostic assessment supports clinical decision-making, patient counseling, risk stratification, and the design of personalized treatment plans. It also helps researchers evaluate disease progression and therapeutic effectiveness, although predictions remain probabilistic and may change as new biological data become available.

2020

Development of major adverse cardiovascular events, which impact cardiovascular prognosis after coronary angioplasty, are influenced by the extent of coronary damage and vascular repair. The use of novel coronary cellular and soluble biomarkers, reactive to vascular damage and repair, are useful to predict the development of MACEs and prognosis.
