Exosome Adsorption

Exosome adsorption is the attachment of exosomes, small extracellular vesicles released by cells, to a material or biological surface, a process that supports their capture and analysis in cancer research. Adsorption occurs through noncovalent interactions such as electrostatic forces, hydrophobic interactions, and van der Waals forces between vesicle membranes and the receiving surface; surface chemistry and environmental conditions influence binding efficiency. Researchers use this process to enrich exosomes from biological samples, examine tumor-associated molecular cargo, and develop biosensors for cancer biomarkers. Controlled adsorption can improve exosome detection while informing strategies for targeted delivery and liquid biopsy development.
