Action Plan Development

Action plan development is a structured method for converting identified needs, problems, or goals into coordinated steps that guide decision-making and implementation. In clinical settings, it typically uses assessment and prioritization to define measurable objectives, select evidence-informed interventions, assign responsibilities, establish timelines, and specify outcome measures; ongoing monitoring then supports adjustment when results or patient needs change. This process helps healthcare teams align care activities, communicate clearly, document intended outcomes, and evaluate progress across treatment, prevention, quality improvement, and research-related workflows. Well-designed action plans can strengthen continuity of care and make clinical decisions more transparent, accountable, and responsive.

Action Potential

Neurons communicate by firing action potentials—the electrochemical signal that is propagated along the axon. The signal results in the release of neurotransmitters at axon terminals, thereby transmitting information to the nervous system. An action potential is a specific "all-or-none" change in membrane potential that results in a rapid spike in voltage. Membrane potential in neurons Neurons typically have a resting membrane potential of about -70 millivolts (mV). When they receive...
