Adult Daycare

Adult daycare is a community-based service that provides daytime supervision, health support, personal care, and social engagement for adults who need assistance while living at home. In clinical settings, interdisciplinary staff assess individual needs and coordinate structured activities, medication support, rehabilitation, nutrition, and monitoring of changes in physical or cognitive function. Programs may serve older adults, people with disabilities, or individuals managing chronic conditions, while offering caregivers planned respite. By combining preventive care with therapeutic and social services, adult daycare can support daily functioning, promote safety, reduce isolation, and help participants remain in their homes and communities longer.

Adult Stem Cells

2019

Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that divide and produce more stem cells or progenitor cells that differentiate into mature, specialized cell types. All the cells in the body are generated from stem cells in the early embryo, but small populations of stem cells are also present in many adult tissues including the bone marrow, brain, skin, and gut. These adult stem cells typically produce the various cell types found in that tissue—to replace cells that are damaged or to continuously renew...

The zebrafish kidney is home to both renal and hematopoietic adult stem/progenitor cells, and represents an outstanding opportunity to study these cell types and their progeny in a vertebrate model organism. Here, we demonstrate a detailed dissection procedure that enables the researcher to identify and surgically remove the adult zebrafish kidney, which can be used for applications such as cell isolation, transplantation, and expression studies of kidney and/or blood cell populations.
