Transducer Device

A transducer device converts a physical, chemical, or biological quantity into a measurable signal, making otherwise inaccessible information available for monitoring and analysis. In clinical systems, a sensing element responds to variables such as pressure, temperature, motion, or electrical activity and transforms that response into an electrical output that can be amplified, processed, and displayed. Transducers support diagnostic imaging, physiological monitoring, and therapeutic equipment, including devices that measure blood pressure, detect heart activity, or generate ultrasound signals. Their sensitivity, accuracy, calibration, and compatibility with biological tissues directly affect measurement quality and patient safety, making transducer design important across clinical research and healthcare.

2023

Source: Shreyas Narsipur, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC Fluid pressure is an important flow characteristic that is required to determine the aerodynamics of a system. One of the oldest and still existing pressure measurement systems is the manometer due to its accuracy and simplicity of operation. The manometer is generally a U-shaped glass tube that is partially filled with liquid, as shown in Figure 1. The U-tube manometer requires no...
