Two One-sided Test

The two one-sided tests (TOST) procedure is a statistical method for assessing whether an observed difference between treatments lies within a prespecified range of clinical equivalence, rather than merely determining whether it differs from zero. It works by testing two directional hypotheses: that the difference is below the upper equivalence margin and above the lower margin; equivalence is concluded only when both one-sided null hypotheses are rejected at the chosen significance level, corresponding to a confidence interval contained within the equivalence bounds. In clinical research, TOST supports equivalence trials, treatment comparability, and evaluation of new interventions when small differences are clinically acceptable.

Right heart failure (RHF) is characterized by right-sided cardiac dilation and hypertrophy, leading to ventricular and atrial malfunction. Cardiopulmonary conditions associated with RHF are accompanied by an increased risk for cardiac arrhythmias. This article describes a standardized model of pulmonary artery banding-induced RHF associated with enhanced ventricular and atrial arrhythmogenesis.

Sound Source Localization Testing in Single-sided Deafness Following Bone Conduction Intervention

We present a protocol to evaluate the impact of bone conduction intervention on sound localization ability in patients with single-sided deafness (SSD). This protocol can be applied to assess the efficacy of bone conduction devices in restoring sound localization abilities and improving the overall quality of life for individuals with SSD.

Here, we present a protocol to use a curvelet transform-based, open-source MATLAB software tool for quantifying fibrillar collagen organization in the extracellular matrix of both normal and diseased tissues. This tool can be applied to images with collagen fibers or other types of line-like structures.
